Crew Resource Management

The objective of Crew Resource Management (CRM) Training is to improve flight safety through the understanding of the Human Factor in Aircraft accidents and incidents, and through effective use of error management strategies in individuals as well as in the system.

Since the support functions to flight deck crew play a significant role in incidents and accidents, CRM Training programs have been designed specifically for flight deck, cabin crew and maintenance engineers.

Initial CRM

The aim of these programs is to provide aircrew and support personnel with a high level of understanding of the human factors, to improve management skills, leadership, decision-making and communication in and around the cockpit and to provide skills in ‘Mind State’ management.

CRM Refresher Course

Human error remains a significant causal factor in the majority of aviation incidents and accidents. The objective of Crew Resource Management (CRM) Refresher Training is to:

  1. Provide Aircrew and Support personnel with a deeper insight into the various CRM concepts by keeping up to date with the latest research both locally and internationally in the field of CRM.
  2. Provide crew with tools to enhance the CRM skills required to manage threats and errors.
  3. To motivate crew to entrench the techniques and tools discussed, and in so doing, ensure more effective use of these tools during abnormal flight situation.

CRM for Aircraft Maintenance Personnel

This CRM training program is specifically designed for Aviation Maintenance Personnel and focuses on the human factor applicable to this role. Human errors made by aircraft maintenance personnel are usually latent errors and are often undetected or detected some days, months or years after the accident. This program will provide maintenance personnel with tools to achieve optimum safety and efficiency, to improve the quality of their work environment, and to improve the teamwork and communication between aircrew, ground crew, and management personnel.

This training is designed to help maintenance personnel develop or reinforce attitudes, skills and procedures, which will ultimately assist in protecting them in their responsibility and accountability on the job.

It is important to acknowledge that the human factor in aircraft maintenance is well researched. Common problem areas are identified and applicable throughout the world.
